Impel Employee Spotlight: Sajid Inamdar

Impel’s Employee Spotlight Series highlights a member of our incredible team each month, giving you an authentic and behind-the-scenes look at our culture. Team Impel is comprised of musicians, foodies, avid animal lovers, athletes, and more – and their energy, grit, and inventiveness are what make Impel successful. This month we’re introducing you to Lead Software Engineer Sajid Inamdar.

What is your role at Impel?

I am the Lead Engineer for the Client Engineering Team.

My job duties are as follows:

  • Designing architecture that scales to meet the varied needs of enterprise customers
  • Working with customers and other stakeholders to design and execute technical solutions
  • Mentoring junior engineers in good software engineering practices
  • Assisting product managers with designing, estimating, prioritizing, and documenting features
  • Performing hands-on software engineering tasks such as programming and code reviews
  • Managing a team of software engineers, including recruitment, retention, work assignments, performance reviews, and career development.

Which Impel core value resonates with you the most and why?

The following Impel core values that resonate with me the most are results, inventiveness and passion. I think they resonate with me the most because they align very closely with my personal values (accountability, curiosity, and entrepreneurial spirit).

What about your role at Impel has inspired you the most?

As part of my job, I have to work with different teams. I have realized how easy the work gets when working on it as a team. It has inspired me to have open discussions, reach out to people, and listen more.

What are you currently reading? Do you have any recommendations for our readers?

Currently, I am reading The Mythical Man-Month by Fred Brooks. Even though this book is old, it has a few concepts which are still applicable today. Therefore, I want to give a presentation on this book so that other engineers don’t need to read the entire book.

I highly recommend reading “The Fountainhead.” It is a novel by Ayn Rand. I usually don’t read novels, but I was hooked after reading the first ten pages of the book.

Tell us three things most people don’t know about you.

I enjoy learning about new technologies and keeping up to date with emerging trends in my field. I also love to play video games, especially open-world RPG-style games. I sometimes binge-watch Netflix shows and recently watched The Umbrella Academy.

What do you like to do on your days off?

On my days off I work well into the nights on my projects or play the aforementioned games.

What is one thing you can’t live without, and why?

I need constant engagement. I don’t like to sit idle. So as long as I have something to keep me busy (books, phone, laptop, etc.) I am good.

Happy hour in NYC

In addition to his excellent engineering skills, Sajid keeps our offices connected by sharing photos and happenings in New York City with the rest of the team to help build our culture. His inventiveness and eagerness to learn are just two of the reasons he’s vital to Team Impel. Follow us on the Impel Facebook and Impel Instagram pages for updates. Be on the lookout for next month’s employee spotlight on Caitlin Milton, Manager of Customer Success.
